British Grand Prix preview
After the first few months, it was striking that Kimi Antonelli dominated virtually every race. The young Italian Mercedes driver won five of the first seven Grands Prix and seemed set to follow in Max Verstappen’s footsteps by becoming world champion at a young age. George Russell, in particular, bore the brunt of this and saw almost every race end in disappointment. In recent weeks, however, things have been going superbly for the Brit, with victory in Austria as the icing on the cake.
Ahead of the British Grand Prix, Antonelli is 40 points ahead of his team-mate Russell. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton is close behind, whilst Max Verstappen is currently in seventh place with 73 points. That is currently a deficit of almost 100 points behind the leader. Has he already given up? That seems unlikely to us, as it was the Dutchman who, following an unrivalled run of form, almost dethroned the McLarens last year too. Can he do it again at Silverstone, during one of the most iconic races of the season?
Latest F1 news
Max Verstappen not heading to McLaren
Whilst Mercedes and Ferrari are currently enjoying a fine season, things are going significantly less well at McLaren and Red Bull Racing. Piastri and Norris are actually rarely in contention for a place on the podium and seem to have already given up on defending the title. In addition, there was once again a lot of speculation about a possible move by Max Verstappen to the Papayas. Zak Brown, however, quashed these rumours and stated that his team has no seat available. He did add, however, that if this were the case, he would sign Max Verstappen immediately.
Hamilton back at the top
One of the names we’re seeing back at the top of the World Championship standings is Lewis Hamilton. After a very difficult first year at Ferrari, the Briton has finally got to grips with the car and is even winning races again. He recently won the Spanish Grand Prix. A week ago, however, he didn’t fare quite so well and finished in P-5. Nevertheless, the record holder for world titles is showing that he’s still got what it takes and certainly isn’t out of the running to claim yet another championship.
History of the British Grand Prix
The Silverstone Grand Prix is one of the most historic races on the Formula 1 calendar. The first Formula 1 World Championship race was held at the British circuit in 1950. Silverstone is known for its fast corners, such as Maggots, Becketts and Copse, which allow drivers to really make a difference here. Lewis Hamilton holds the record for the most wins at this circuit, with nine. Last year, Lando Norris came out on top, securing a memorable victory for McLaren.

British Grand Prix Betting Tip
Betting Tip 1: George Russell to finish ahead of Kimi Antonelli
George Russell is bound to be hugely motivated to win the British Grand Prix as well, following his victory in Austria. He is steadily closing the gap on his team-mate Kimi Antonelli and has even finished ahead of the top Italian talent in the last two races. We reckon he’ll do the same on home soil, if only because he’ll be racing in front of his home crowd. A bet on George Russell to finish ahead of Kimi Antonelli gives you odds of 1.90.
British Grand Prix Prediction
We expect the British Grand Prix to be a very exciting race, with George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Antonelli and even Max Verstappen all in contention for victory. Russell and Hamilton because they’re racing on home soil and want to close the gap on Kimi Antonelli; Antonelli because he wants to extend his lead; and Max Verstappen because he’s Max Verstappen.
Nevertheless, we’re backing Hamilton for the win, mainly because he’s already come out on top at Silverstone nine times. A win for Lewis Hamilton will earn you odds of 6.50.
