Current Form & Team News

FC Barcelona

Did you watch FC Barcelona’s away match against Real Betis? If so, you too must have come to the conclusion that Barcelona look set to be champions once again. Lamine Yamal, in particular, put in another superb performance, scoring a truly marvellous opening goal. And to think that top scorer Raphinha is missing. For us Dutch fans, incidentally, let’s hope we get to see Frenkie de Jong back in action soon. The playmaker has returned from a long-term injury, but is still waiting to make his first appearance of the season. Will it be ten in a row for Barça?

Real Madrid

Real Madrid may have lost twice in La Liga, but last week they showed once again that they are a top-class side. In the Champions League, RB Leipzig were beaten 4-1, thanks in part to some brilliant goals from Kylian Mbappé and Yan Diomande. Of course, when it comes to Real Madrid, we’d also love to see a Dutch player in action. However, Denzel Dumfries is currently mostly having to settle for a place on the bench.

Can Real Madrid’s star players make the difference away to the league leaders? It is clear, however, that they are missing one of their best players in Vinicius Jr. In that regard, they will be hoping for a moment of brilliance from the French superstar, Kylian Mbappé.

Head-to-Head

A look at the recent history between the two sides shows that they are fairly evenly matched. Last season, both teams won once. It is, however, striking that Madrid’s last victory in Barcelona was some three years ago. This shows that Barcelona have been making good progress in recent years.

Expected line-ups

FC Barcelona (4-2-3-1):

Garcia, Espart, Martin, Cubarsí, Kounde, Pedri, Rodri, Gordon, Fermin, Yamal, Gabriel Jesus

Real Madrid (4-2-3-1):

Courtois, Cucurella, Huijssen, Konate, Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Diomande, Bellingham, Güler, Mbappe

FC Barcelona v Real Madrid betting tips

Betting tip 1: Over 2.5 goals for Barcelona

We believe FC Barcelona stand a good chance of securing their next victory in La Liga. This is particularly because they seem to find the back of the net with such ease. Indeed, Barça have scored at least three goals in nine of their last ten matches. We reckon they’ll do the same against Real Madrid. Betting on over 2.5 goals for FC Barcelona gives you odds of 1.84.

Betting tip 2: Yan Diomande to score or provide an assist

It is clear that Yan Diomande has now found his form. The Royal’s multi-million signing scored a stunning goal against RB Leipzig and has now been involved in a goal for four matches in a row. He scored against Villarreal, Sevilla and RB Leipzig, and also provided an assist against Leipzig, Sevilla and AS Roma. In short: in four matches, the Ivorian has been involved in seven goals. If Yan Diomande scores or provides an assist, you’ll get odds of 2.35.

Prediction: FC Barcelona v Real Madrid

Final score: FC Barcelona 2–1 Real Madrid
You should never underestimate a team like Real Madrid, especially with José Mourinho at the helm. And yet we believe that Barcelona are currently a cut above. We are therefore predicting a narrow 2–1 victory for Barcelona, which would see them secure their tenth consecutive win. And put Real Madrid nine points behind!
