Current Form & Team News
Real Betis
It’s impressive what’s happening in Seville at the moment. Whilst for years the focus was on Sevilla FC’s impressive European performances, it’s currently the green-and-white half of the city that’s celebrating. In the Champions League, they beat both OSC Lille and FC Porto 3–2, whilst Feyenoord lost to FC Barcelona and beat Como. Interestingly, Real Betis played against FC Barcelona last weekend. Just like Wednesday’s Dutch opponents, they suffered a defeat and conceded no fewer than five goals. Will Manuel Pellegrini’s side also beat Feyenoord?
Feyenoord
Feyenoord had an excellent weekend in the Eredivisie. Although it was a hard-fought match, they secured a 4–3 away win against SC Telstar. It wasn’t necessarily a truly outstanding performance, but the fact that rivals PSV, AZ Alkmaar and FC Twente all dropped points means that the team from Rotterdam-Zuid are now firmly top of the Eredivisie. Givairo Read’s attacking play was particularly impressive. Will the club from the port city be able to keep him beyond this season? Let’s hope he makes another impression at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
Head-to-Head
Real Betis and Feyenoord have met once before. That was during last season’s League Phase of the Europa League. On that occasion, Real Betis proved too strong at home, winning 2–1. Can Feyenoord take their revenge for the match that took place around nine months ago?
Predicted line-ups
Real Betis (4-2-3-1):
Valles, Garcia, Gomes, Llorente, Bellerin, Ceballos, Bernal, Ezzalzouli, Isco, Lo Celso, Hernandez
Feyenoord (4-3-3):
Ernst, Marmols, St. Juste, Watanabe, Read, Targhalline, Vanhoutte, Zechiël, Valente, Ferri, Hadj Mousa
Real Betis v Feyenoord betting tips
Betting tip 1: Asian Handicap +0.5 for Feyenoord
We have every confidence that Feyenoord will achieve a good result. The Dutch league leaders have already shown against Como that they are capable of great things. We are therefore backing the Dutch side to secure at least a draw. An Asian Handicap +0.5 on Feyenoord gives you odds of 2.48.
Betting tip 2: Isco to score or provide an assist
Isco remains one of the standout players on the European stage. The 34-year-old Real Betis number 10 was rested against FC Barcelona, but is expected to return to the starting line-up against Feyenoord. We believe that, just as in his last two Champions League matches, he will play a key role by scoring a goal or providing an assist. Isco to score or provide an assist will earn you odds of 2.20.
Prediction: Real Betis v Feyenoord
Final score: Real Betis 2–2 Feyenoord
We reckon Feyenoord will be up against a very tough opponent, but proven sides such as FC Porto and Lille have already shown that scoring against Real Betis is certainly possible. We’re therefore predicting a 2-2 draw, not least because Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are currently in brilliant form.
