At FC Groningen, they’ll be rubbing their hands with glee after picking up six points from their first two matches. First, FC Utrecht were beaten at home, after which the team put in an excellent performance away at ADO Den Haag last week. It is striking that Dick Lukkien has a squad whose members have known each other for years and therefore know exactly what to expect from one another.

Even more striking was the transfer of Steije Resink to AZ Alkmaar. The Groningen midfielder, who was suffering from a serious injury, brought in 4.5 million euros, and hopes to be back in action during the second half of the season. A masterstroke from the Alkmaar side?
