On paper, this looks set to be one of the most one-sided matches of the final round of fixtures. Panama have already been eliminated following two narrow 0–1 defeats against Ghana and Croatia, and have yet to score. England started with a 4-2 win over Croatia, but were then held to a 0-0 draw by Ghana. Thomas Tuchel’s side need a win to top the group and progress to the knockout stages, and will be looking to put in a convincing performance. Here is our Panama v England prediction.

Panama v England preview

The group stage of the 2026 World Cup will conclude for Panama and England at GEODIS Park in Nashville. The stakes are clear: with four points, England still have every chance of finishing top of the group, whilst Panama have already been eliminated following two narrow defeats. Nevertheless, the Panamanians won’t simply roll out the red carpet for the favourites. England will be looking to put in a convincing performance again following their goalless draw against Ghana, but they face a side that has put up a valiant defensive fight. Will the Three Lions get their attack back on track, or will Panama once again limit the damage?

Current Form & Team News

Panama

Panama are still empty-handed after two matches, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. They lost by just 0–1 to both Ghana and Croatia, and in both matches the team squandered chances to take at least a point. Their organisation is sound, but it’s clear they lack sharpness in front of goal. Against England, Panama will certainly be keen not to end the World Cup without any points, although the Three Lions are likely to present their toughest challenge of the group stage. Can the Panamanians spring a surprise against one of the outsiders for the 2026 World Cup?

England

England have shown two different sides in their first two group matches. Against Croatia, the team made quite an impression with a convincing 4-2 victory, in which Harry Kane, amongst others, found the net twice. Four days later, however, England struggled against a well-organised Ghana side and had to settle for a goalless draw. Criticism of the English side mounted immediately, as they created very little. Against Panama, Thomas Tuchel’s team have the ideal opportunity to boost their confidence, with Harry Kane once again their key asset up front, and to convincingly live up to their role as favourites. Will England finish the group stage as group winners?

Head-to-Head

Panama and England have met just once before at a major tournament. At the 2018 World Cup, the Three Lions were far too strong, winning 6–1. Harry Kane stole the show with a hat-trick, whilst Panama scored their first-ever World Cup goal through Felipe Baloy.

Predicted line-ups

Panama (4-3-2-1):

Mosquera, Murillo, Ramos, Córdoba, Andrade, Blackman, Martínez, Harvey, Barcenas, Rodríguez, Fajardo

England (4-3-2-1):

Pickford, James, Konsa, Guehi, O’Reilly, Anderson, Rice, Madueke, Bellingham, Rashford, Kane

Panama - England betting tips

Betting Tip 1: Over 2.5 goals – England

Following their lacklustre 0-0 draw against Ghana, England have something to prove. Thomas Tuchel’s side will be keen to demonstrate why they are among the favourites for the World Cup title. With players such as Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford, England possess far greater attacking quality than Panama. We therefore expect an eager England side to go on the attack straight away and score at least three goals. At Oranje Palace, you can get attractive odds of 1.73 on this bet.

Betting tip 2: Over 2.5 shots on target – Harry Kane

Harry Kane will be keen to make his mark against Panama. Whilst stars such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland have regularly found the net in this World Cup, the England captain failed to score against Ghana. We therefore expect the Bayern Munich striker to be eager to make his mark and to take plenty of shots in an attempt to boost his goal tally. We reckon he’ll have at least three shots on target. If Harry Kane has more than 2.5 shots on target, you’ll get odds of 2.14.

Prediction: Panama v England

** Final score: Panama 0–3 England **
Panama will once again hold out defensively for a long time, but England’s individual quality will ultimately prove decisive. Following the disappointing draw against Ghana, we expect a convincing response from the Three Lions.
