FC Twente v PSV preview
The gap between FC Twente and PSV is just three points, so it looks like we’re in for an exciting Sunday afternoon. After five seasons, can FC Twente finally beat the team that has been the best in the Netherlands for the last three years? Here’s a brief look at both teams.
Current Form & Team News
FC Twente
FC Twente are currently on an excellent run of form. The Enschede-based side have picked up ten points from their last four matches and are performing exceptionally well in their home fixtures so far. Their last two matches ended in 2-0 and 1-0 victories over SC Telstar and ADO Den Haag respectively. All eyes will once again be on Wout Weghorst, whilst we mustn’t underestimate Marko Pjaca’s performances either. He has already scored six goals this season and is therefore a key player. Can he do the same against PSV? Or will the Tukkers barely manage to mount any attacks?
PSV
PSV are in excellent form at the moment. Of course, their start against AZ Alkmaar and Fortuna Sittard was somewhat shaky, but their 3-1 away win at Ajax in particular showed that the Eindhoven side are the number one title contenders. Once again this season, Peter Bosz’s side have no shortage of goals, as no other team has scored more in the Eredivisie. The only downside is the number of goals they concede. For instance, PSV have yet to keep a clean sheet in any of their eight competitive matches this season. Will they manage it against FC Twente?
Head-to-Head
The head-to-head record between FC Twente and PSV naturally favours the visitors from Eindhoven. What is even more striking is that FC Twente have lost all of their last eight official matches against PSV. This shows that PSV are seen as a real bogey team. Will they be able to pick up a point against PSV for the first time since 3 September 2022?
Predicted line-ups
FC Twente (4-2-3-1):
Unnerstall, Nijstad, Pröpper, Bruns, van Rooij, Weidmann, Zerrouki, Orjasaeter, Taha, Pjaca, Weghorst
PSV (4-3-3):
Kovar, Mauro Jr, Obispo, Geertruida, Dest, Wanner, Sano, Til, van Bommel, Pepi, Perisic
FC Twente v PSV betting tips
Betting tip 1: PSV to win & both teams to score
We reckon PSV will beat FC Twente for the ninth time in a row. However, we do think FC Twente will score at least once. Mainly because PSV have conceded at least one goal in every match this season. The Bet Builder ‘PSV to win & both teams to score’ gives you odds of 2.75.
Betting tip 2: Sondre Orjasaeter to have more than 0.5 shots on target
One of the most dangerous players in the Eredivisie is FC Twente’s Sondre Orjasaeter. The winger is sometimes criticised for not scoring enough. Nevertheless, he managed to find the net against SC Telstar. Furthermore, he has had at least one shot on target in each of his last two home matches in the Eredivisie. We reckon he’ll be looking to do the same against PSV. If the Norwegian has more than 0.5 shots on target, you’ll get odds of 1.72.
FC Twente v PSV Prediction
Final score: FC Twente v PSV 1–3
Of course, FC Twente are no pushovers, but it seems that PSV are cut out for this sort of match. Just look at their comfortable victories over FC Groningen and FC Utrecht. We reckon PSV will put in another strong performance and still win comfortably. As far as we’re concerned, this will result in a 3–1 victory for the guests.
