Current Form & Team News
Scotland
Scotland started the 2026 World Cup with plenty of confidence, but failed to make a convincing impression against Haiti. John McGinn emerged as the saviour with a crucial goal, although the Scots could not complain that it did not end in a draw. Not to mention the element of luck involved in McGinn’s 1–0 winner. With the match against Morocco on the horizon, Scotland will need to step up their game. After all, we saw against Brazil that giving away space against the Moroccans is punished mercilessly.
Morocco
Despite the 1-1 draw, Morocco can look back on the match against Brazil with a sense of satisfaction. In the first half in particular, they showed why they are regarded as a dangerous outsider. With 18-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi shining in midfield and Ismaël Saibari leading the line, the key now is to turn that quality into a win. Because, whichever way you look at it, a win against Scotland is essentially a must. Will we be treated to a North African celebration?
Head-to-Head
Scotland and Morocco have played one match against each other in the past. This was at the 1998 World Cup in France. The Moroccans would undoubtedly jump at the chance for a similar outcome, given that the match 28 years ago ended in a 3-0 victory for Morocco. Can they pull off a similar feat?
Predicted line-ups
Scotland (4-5-1)
Gunn, Robertson, McKenna, Hendry, Hickey, Ferguson, McGinn, Christie, McTominay, Doak, Shankland
Morocco (4-3-3)
Bounou, Mazraoui, Riad, Diop, Hakimi, Aynaoui, Ounahi, Bouaddi, Rahimi, Saibari, Diaz
Scotland v Morocco betting tips
Betting tip 1: Over 0.5 shots on target – Scott McTominay
The key player for Scotland is undoubtedly Scott McTominay. Since his move from Manchester United to Napoli, the midfielder has become a key figure for both his club and his country. Furthermore, the former striker hasn’t lost his scoring touch and is incredibly important with his shots on target and goals. Against Haiti, the hard-working midfielder had one shot on target, and he is expected to do the same in the Scotland v Morocco match. If Scott McTominay has more than 0.5 shots on target, you’ll get odds of 1.88.
Betting tip 2: Regular time – Morocco to win
Following the match against Brazil, we’re starting to take Morocco more and more seriously. They reached the semi-finals at the 2022 World Cup, played in the Africa Cup of Nations final and have had an excellent run-up to the tournament. To top it all off, they played a fantastic first half against Brazil and managed to hold the favourites to a draw. In contrast, Scotland, despite their 1–0 victory, failed to impress against Haiti. A Morocco win against Scotland will earn you odds of 1.70.
Scotland v Morocco Prediction
** Final score: Scotland 0–2 Morocco **
We expect Morocco to win. Their first-half performance against Brazil in particular showed us that they are in top form. Scotland, on the other hand, were disappointing and struggled to create chances – and that was against a football minnow like Haiti.
