Uzbekistan v Colombia: 2026 World Cup Prediction
How will World Cup debutants Uzbekistan, led by Fabio Cannavaro, fare? Oranje Palace tells you more about Uzbekistan v Colombia
The criticism levelled at the Dutch national team was harsh following their lacklustre 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan. The Asian nation is taking part in the World Cup for the first time this year and has undoubtedly gained a boost in confidence following their match against the Oranje. This football minnow’s first official match is against Colombia. Can they give the South Americans a run for their money? Or will star players Luis Díaz and James Rodríguez lead the Colombians to victory?

Uzbekistan v Colombia Preview
Uzbekistan are making their World Cup debut. Led by the legendary Fabio Cannavaro, they are hoping to achieve a good result straight away. Colombia are an experienced and technically strong side who are hoping to go far in this tournament.
Current Form & Team News
Uzbekistan
Anyone who didn’t know before the World Cup kicked off that Fabio Cannavaro was the Uzbekistan manager must be somewhat surprised. After all, it is a former World Cup winner and former FIFA World Player of the Year who is in charge of the national team. Hopes are pinned primarily on Khusanov and Shomurodov, two of the few players who feature for a major European club. Might they pull off a surprise and secure their first-ever World Cup point straight away?
Colombia
Having qualified for the 2018 World Cup, Panama also managed to secure their place in the current tournament. They did so by beating El Salvador and Guatemala, amongst others. Meanwhile, they struggled greatly against Suriname, failing to beat them on two occasions. In that respect, the Latin American side appears to be one of the underdogs at the 2026 World Cup. However, their preparations went well, as they held Bosnia to a 1-1 draw and beat the Dominican Republic 2-1. Can they pick up a point for the first time in their history?
Head-to-Head
Uzbekistan and Colombia have never played each other before. This will be a historic first meeting.
Expected Line-ups
Uzbekistan (5-4-1):
Yusupov, Nasrullaev, Ashurmatov, Khusanov, Hamraliev, Sayfiev, Shukurov, Khamrobek, Urunov, Fayzullaev, Shomurodov
Colombia (4-3-3):
Vargas, Mojica, Lucumi, Sanchez, Munoz, Rios, Rodriguez, Lerma, Diaz, Suarez, Arias
Uzbekistan v Colombia Betting Tips
Betting Tip 1: 3-way handicap (-1) Colombia
It looks as though Colombia are in good form at just the right time. In the run-up to the 2026 World Cup, they played two friendlies against Jordan and Costa Rica, winning 2-0 and 3-1 respectively. This shows they are capable of easily beating a weaker side. We expect Colombia to be at least a class above Uzbekistan and are opting for a 3-way handicap (-1) for Los Cafeteros. This gives you odds of 2.02.
Betting tip 2: Jhon Arias to score
As mentioned, most of the attention surrounding Colombia is focused on Luis Díaz and James Rodríguez. However, in Jhon Arias they have a genuine goal-scoring machine. At the end of May, he found the net twice for his club Palmeiras, whilst he also scored twice against Jordan last week. We have high hopes for the 28-year-old striker and believe he will score against Uzbekistan too. This will earn you odds of 2.88.
Uzbekistan v Colombia prediction
Final score: Uzbekistan 0–2 Colombia
Colombia have far greater quality and experience. We expect them to win this match relatively comfortably.
