On Saturday afternoon at 4.30 pm, a cracking fixture – NEC v Feyenoord – is on the programme at the Goffert. NEC, who finished third last season, are playing a home match against last season’s runners-up. The pressure will be on Feyenoord in particular, especially given their lacklustre activity in the transfer market and last week’s 2–2 draw against ADO Den Haag. Can they bounce back and show that they’re in the running for the league title this year? Here’s our NEC v Feyenoord prediction.

NEC v Feyenoord preview
Can Feyenoord finally beat NEC again – the team that plays the most attacking football of any side on Dutch pitches? Here’s a brief look at both teams.
Current Form & Team News
NEC
NEC had nothing to complain about last week in their 3-1 win against PEC Zwolle. In a match featuring a total of four penalties, Dick Schreuder’s side eventually won 3-1. The most notable aspect, however, was the return of Perr Schuurs, who played in an official match for the first time in over 1,000 days. In fact, it was he who headed home the 3-1 winner in the closing stages. Will we see him in action again against Feyenoord? And will we also get to see a few new signings?
Feyenoord
There’s a sense of unease looming at Feyenoord. Of course, the Rotterdam side got off to a fine start to the season, but they still drew 2-2 at home against both Go Ahead Eagles and ADO Den Haag. On top of that, the Legioen have started to grumble a little about the incoming transfers. Particularly since Ayase Ueda left for Ligue 1, there seems to have been a significant drop in the number of goals scored. As Feyenoord are taking a different approach, they have chosen not to make any major signings. If they lose to NEC, the criticism will certainly be harsh. What’s in store for Saturday?
Head-to-Head
Feyenoord have been struggling greatly in recent matches against NEC. Of course, the club from Rotterdam South remains the favourite, but none of the last four head-to-head matches ended in a win for Feyenoord. Their last victory dates back to 25 April 2024. Can they beat the team from Gelderland again after two years?
Predicted line-ups
NEC (3-4-1-2):
Crettaz, Fonville, Nuytinck, Storm, Bisschof, Lebreton, Monteiro, Tahaui, Tadic, Linssen, Chery
Feyenoord (4-3-3):
Ernst, Lopez, Marmol, Watanabe, Read, Valente, Vanhoutte, Zechiël, Diarra, Ferri, Hadj Moussa
NEC v Feyenoord betting tips
Betting tip 1: Asian Handicap +0.5 for NEC Nijmegen
Recent years have shown that NEC are more than capable of holding their own against the traditional top three in the Eredivisie. This certainly applies to matches against Feyenoord. We believe NEC will pick up at least a point against the Rotterdam side for the fifth time in a row. An Asian Handicap of +0.5 for NEC gives you odds of 1.64.
Betting tip 2: Tjaronn Chery to have more than 1.5 shots on target
One of NEC’s key players is Tjaronn Chery. The 38-year-old attacking midfielder from Suriname scored twice against PEC Zwolle just last week. What stands out most is his ability to find the target. In NEC’s three Eredivisie matches, he has consistently had two or more shots on target. We reckon he’ll do the same against Feyenoord. If Tjaronn Chery has more than 1.5 shots on target, you’ll get odds of 3.00.
NEC v Feyenoord Prediction
Final score: NEC 1–1 Feyenoord
We expect a very entertaining match, with both teams looking to attack. In our view, this will result in a 1–1 draw – a result that has also been on the scoreboard after 90 minutes in each of the last two seasons. What do you think?
