Germany v Ivory Coast: 2026 World Cup Prediction

Can Germany land another knockout blow, or is the Ivory Coast in a different league? Oranje Palace tells you more about Germany v Ivory Coast

by Oranje Palace18 June 20265 min read

Germany are heading into their clash with Côte d’Ivoire brimming with confidence following their impressive 7–1 victory over Curaçao. But if one thing is clear, it is that you mustn’t underestimate a country like Côte d’Ivoire. After all, they too have secured the all-important three points after just one match. On Saturday evening, 20 June, the two nations will go head-to-head in Philadelphia, where kick-off is at 22.00 Dutch time. We’re expecting a match packed with power and pace, and here’s our Germany v Ivory Coast prediction.

Betting at Oranje Palace

Is there anything better than a tournament like the 2026 World Cup? We don’t think so! Especially as the Netherlands are one of the 48 participating nations. The fact that the Oranje are in action at the 2026 World Cup gives you the chance to take advantage of sky-high odds. If you’re new and sign up with Oranje Palace, you can choose to bet at odds of 50.00 on a Netherlands win.

Germany v Ivory Coast preview

Will Germany manage to secure their second victory at the 2026 World Cup at the expense of Ivory Coast? The fact is that Germany are the favourites, but they face a much stronger opponent in Ivory Coast than they did in Curaçao. Read more about both countries below.

Current Form & Team News

Germany

Germany left no doubt as to who was in charge in their opening match. It was somewhat expected, but Curaçao really had no answer to Die Mannschaft. Kai Havertz was worth his weight in gold with two goals, whilst Jamal Musiala regularly had the crowd on their feet with his goal and flamboyant moves. If Germany also beat Côte d’Ivoire, they will be guaranteed a place in the knockout stages. Will we be treated to a masterclass against Côte d’Ivoire? Or will Julian Nagelsmann’s side ease off a little?

Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast aren’t travelling to Philadelphia just to watch Germany from the sidelines. The Africans already made an impression against Ecuador with a composed 1-0 victory and proved that they are a side to be taken seriously. In recent weeks, it has been Amad Diallo in particular who has been making an impression. The Manchester United right winger had already played a key role in the pre-tournament friendly against France and also scored the winning goal against Ecuador. Germany have been warned! The question, however, is: just how good are Les Éléphants really? Can they make a world power sweat?

Head-to-Head

Germany and Ivory Coast have played one match against each other in the past. This was a friendly international in 2009 that ended in a 2–2 draw. As it was over 15 years ago, we cannot draw any conclusions from this match.

Expected line-ups

Germany (4–3–3)

Neuer, Brown, Tah, Schlotterbeck, Kimmich, Pavlovic, Musiala, Nmecha, Wirtz, Havertz, Sane

Ivory Coast (4-3-3)

Fofana, Konan, Diomande, Agbadou, Doue, Oulai, Kessie, Sangare, Diomande, Guessand, Amad

Germany v Ivory Coast betting tips

Betting tip 1: Over 0.5 shots on target – Felix Nmecha

Felix Nmecha may not be the first German footballer that springs to mind for the general public. But make no mistake: the 25-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder opened the scoring against Curaçao and has also had an excellent year in the Bundesliga. He had a total of three shots on target against Curaçao, which shows that he is exceptionally clinical for a midfielder. We reckon he’ll manage at least one shot or header on target against Ivory Coast. If Felix Nmecha has more than 0.5 shots on target, you’ll get odds of 2.43.

Betting tip 2: Over 2.5 goals

For the neutral spectator, here’s a tip: don’t miss a single Germany match. Die Mannschaft produce high-scoring fixtures. In each of their last six international matches, there have been three or more goals. Germany’s attacking intentions are certainly looking strong, and we think the Ivory Coast can put up a good fight against them. We’re therefore going for over 2.5 goals, a bet that will earn you odds of 1.58.

Germany v Ivory Coast Prediction

** Final score: Germany 2–0 Ivory Coast **
We expect Germany to win their second match at the 2026 World Cup as well. With such a powerful attack, they’ll make life difficult for any opponent, although we expect far fewer goals than against Curaçao.
