The shock of DAC’s 0–6 defeat to FC Twente can still be felt throughout Slovakia. What is particularly frustrating for the team is the fact that they did not play last weekend. As a result, they have had to wait seven days for the chance to redeem themselves. Nevertheless, the team – which is actually known as FC DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda – can already look back on a good start to the season in the Nike Liga. After two matches, the tally stands at four points. And following the thrashing in Enschede, it’s clear that focusing on the league might well be the best idea.

FC Twente

Things are certainly making waves at FC Twente at the moment. First of all, it’s striking that technical director Erik ten Hag is keeping a very close eye on the squad, something that could potentially create extra pressure. In addition, with Wout Weghorst, they’ve brought in someone who likes to keep things on their toes. The risk, of course, is that the striker himself will also have to perform. Furthermore, Sam Lammers is now established as the third-choice striker, given that Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink is making a name for himself. The question, then, is: how long will this work? The 0–1 defeat away at SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie certainly does nothing to help matters.
