Belgium v Egypt preview

Just like any other tournament, there is once again a big question mark over how Belgium will perform. In recent finals, they were often seen as outsiders for the title, particularly due to the presence of players such as Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne. These were all players in their prime who could potentially spring a surprise. Unfortunately, our southern neighbours have never managed to win a tournament. This year, there are particular doubts surrounding the Belgians. Up front, they’re certainly brimming with quality, whilst at the back they’re a bit lacklustre. Will they hold their own against Egypt’s star strikers?

Of course, Egypt have Omar Marmoush of Manchester City, but ultimately it all comes down to one man: Mohamed Salah. One of the best players ever to wear the Liverpool shirt is the team’s great leader and hopes to make his whole country proud. Nevertheless, the right winger has certainly not had his best year, and partly because of this, he played his last match in a Reds shirt a few weeks ago. His country, incidentally, is doing extremely well in the run-up to the 2026 World Cup. They drew 0-0 with Egypt and lost ‘only’ 1-2 to Brazil. Could they spring a surprise?

Belgium v Egypt prediction

Of course, Kevin de Bruyne is the key figure in the Belgian midfield. But we mustn’t overlook the role of Youri Tielemans either. In fact, he recently scored in the Europa League final, found the net against Croatia and also provided the assist for a goal against Tunisia. It shows that the Aston Villa midfielder is in good form and is a key player. We reckon he’ll score or provide an assist against Egypt. This gives you odds of 3.60.

Belgium v Egypt odds

There’s no getting around the fact that Belgium are the favourites to win this match. And yet their head-to-head record shows that Egypt always performs well against Belgium. The two sides have faced each other four times, with the North Africans coming out on top on no fewer than three occasions. The last time this happened was in 2022. We are therefore opting for a double chance (X2) for the Egyptians. This bet offers you odds of 2.38.
