Ajax v Vojvodina preview

Can the Serbs pull off a miracle at the Johan Cruijff Arena? Or is the job simply already done and dusted? Here’s a brief look at both teams.

Current Form & Team News

Ajax

For the time being, morale is high in the capital. Following a dramatic season that saw them finish in 5th place, the record champions, under the guidance of Spanish manager Míchel, have made a good start to the new football season. There seems to be a clear plan behind their play once again, whilst we’re seeing a number of talented youngsters knocking on the door. Add to that the experience of the returning Daley Blind, and it’s clear that Ajax are on the up again. The only question is whether they can compete with PSV and Feyenoord this season.

Vojvodina

Following their 1–4 defeat to Ajax, things didn’t go much better for Vojvodina last weekend. They won their opening league match comfortably 4–0, but things went wrong against Red Star Belgrade. After just 20 minutes, they were already 0–2 down, before striker Mulahusejnovic pulled one back. In the end, the Serbian top-flight side won 3-1, and the team from Novi Sad suffered another heavy defeat. Do they see the match in Amsterdam purely as an opportunity to put themselves in the spotlight? Or do they think they still have a chance? We’ll find out soon enough!

Head-to-Head

Ajax and Vojvodina have faced each other three times in the past, with Ajax winning on each occasion. The scores were 3-1, 1-0 and 4-1 to Ajax, which bodes well for Thursday’s match. Will a fourth victory be added to the tally?

Predicted line-ups

Ajax (4-3-3):

Paes, Wijndal, Blind, Bouwman, Rosa, Regeer, Klaassen, Gloukh, Godts, Dolberg, Berghuis

Vojvodina (5-4-1):

Rosic, Sukacev, Crnomarkovic, Petrovic, Szucs, Nikolic, Kolarevic, Zukic, Djakovac, Randjelovic, Mulahusejnovic

Ajax v Vojvodina betting tips

Betting tip 1: Over 3.5 goals

Just as in the first leg, we expect plenty of goals in the Ajax v Vojvodina match. Vojvodina’s matches this season have so far been very high-scoring. Indeed, the Serbs’ last three matches have all ended with at least four goals. We expect a repeat of this pattern and are once again backing at least four goals. Over 3.5 goals gives you odds of 1.98 at Oranje Palace.

Betting Tip 2: Bet Builder: Ajax to win & both teams to score

Ajax have been performing well so far in the 2026–2027 season. And yet they’ve been conceding goals on a regular basis. Whether justified or not, they’ve had to pick the ball out of the net at least once against VfL Bochum, Panathinaikos, Vojvodina and Burnley. However, we do expect a win for the Amsterdam side. The Bet Builder: Ajax to win & both teams to score offers you odds of 2.63 at Oranje Palace.

Prediction: Ajax v Vojvodina

Final score: Ajax 3–1 Vojvodina
We’re going for a 3-1 win for Ajax, with the home side having the upper hand. Especially given the number of chances created in last week’s match in Serbia. However, the defence does seem to slip up now and then, so we certainly can’t rule out a goal from Vojvodina. In short: 3-1 to Ajax!
