What is Wheel of Horrors?

Wheel of Horrors is set in a dark graveyard with tombstones, an iron fence and a blue-grey night sky. Frankenstein, a witch, a werewolf and a pumpkin monster are among the main horror-themed symbols on the reels.

Above the 5×3 grid sits the large Wheel of Horrors. This bonus wheel is the central mechanic of the game. Purple, green and orange coin symbols can trigger the wheel and also determine which additional mechanic can play a role within Hold & Win.

Symbols

The higher-value regular symbols follow the Halloween and horror theme. A werewolf, pumpkin monster, witch and Frankenstein appear on the reels. The lower-value symbols are A, K, Q and J with small Halloween-style details.

The Wild has a green design and can appear on all five reels. There are also three coloured coin symbols that play an important role in the bonus mechanics.

The purple coin is linked to Extra Spins, the green coin to Collect and the orange coin to Extra Multi. During the bonus, special Mini, Minor, Major and Mega prize symbols and regular bonus symbols with stake-related values can also appear.

Wild

The Wild can appear on all five reels and substitutes for all regular, non-special symbols.

This allows it to help complete standard payline combinations. Coloured coin symbols, prize symbols and other special bonus symbols are not substituted by the Wild.

Wheel of Horrors

When a coloured coin lands on the grid, there is a chance that the Wheel of Horrors will be triggered.

The wheel can produce several different outcomes. A spin can award a direct cash prize, select a jackpot prize or start the Hold & Win feature.

Direct prizes can reach up to 500× the stake. The wheel also contains jackpot sections for Mini, Minor, Major, Mega and Grand.

The coloured coin involved in the trigger can influence how Hold & Win plays out. The game uses three variants: Extra Multi, Collect and Extra Spins.

Coloured coin symbols

Each of the three coloured coins has its own role within the bonus structure.

The orange coin is linked to Extra Multi. During this Hold & Win variant, values of newly landed symbols can be increased by a multiplier.

The green coin is linked to Collect and focuses on collecting values that appear on the Hold & Win grid.

The purple coin activates Extra Spins. This version starts Hold & Win with 4 respins instead of the usual 3.

Hold & Win

Hold & Win can be triggered as a result of the Wheel of Horrors. The feature normally begins with 3 respins.

During the bonus, the regular paylines are disabled and relevant bonus and prize symbols remain in place.

Each time a new valid symbol lands, the respin counter is refilled. This allows the feature to continue for as long as new symbols keep appearing.

Hold & Win ends when all available respins have been used or when the entire grid is filled with relevant symbols.

Extra Multi

The orange coin represents the Extra Multi mechanic.

During this variant, newly landed symbols can receive an additional multiplier. When multiple relevant values appear during the same spin, a 2× or 3× multiplier can be applied.

Extra Multi therefore adds another layer to Hold & Win, as not only the number of collected symbols matters but also the multiplier applied to their values.

Collect

The green coin is linked to the Collect feature.

During this Hold & Win variant, values that appear on the bonus grid are collected. The mechanic becomes especially relevant when multiple valuable prize symbols are visible at the same time.

Extra Spins

The purple coin activates the Extra Spins version of Hold & Win.

Where the standard feature begins with 3 respins, this version starts with 4. New valid landings refill the counter, giving the extra starting respin more room to extend the bonus.

Ante Bet

Wheel of Horrors includes an Ante Bet that increases the total stake by 50%.

When this option is active, the chance of triggering the Wheel of Horrors is doubled.

Winnings are still calculated using the regular stake rather than the total cost including the Ante Bet. The option therefore mainly changes the chance of reaching the bonus wheel.

Jackpot prizes

Wheel of Horrors contains five jackpot levels: Mini, Minor, Major, Mega and Grand.

A jackpot prize can be won directly through the Wheel of Horrors. The highest prize is the Grand.

The Grand also plays an important role within Hold & Win. Filling the entire grid awards the Grand prize of 5,000× the stake.

Maximum win

The maximum win in Wheel of Horrors is 5,000× the stake.

This value matches the Grand prize within the bonus structure and can be reached by filling the complete Hold & Win grid.

Why Wheel of Horrors stands out

Wheel of Horrors combines a classic 5×3 setup with a bonus wheel that can lead to several different outcomes.

The three coloured coin symbols also give Hold & Win different directions. Extra Multi focuses on multiplied values, Collect on gathering prizes and Extra Spins on an additional starting respin.

This means the same Hold & Win feature can play out in different ways, while the Wheel of Horrors itself can also award direct cash prizes and jackpot prizes.

Is Wheel of Horrors worth playing?

Wheel of Horrors is mainly suited to players who enjoy Hold & Win features, bonus wheels and multiple modifiers within the same bonus structure.

This Iron Dog Studio release via 1X2 Network combines 25 fixed paylines, three different coin features and five jackpot levels.

With high volatility and a maximum win of 5,000× the stake, the focus is clearly on the Wheel of Horrors and the different Hold & Win variants.
