Vojvodina v Ajax: Conference League Prediction
How will Ajax fare in their first official match of the 2026–2027 season? Oranje Palace looks ahead to Vojvodina v Ajax.
The 2026 World Cup final is already a while behind us, but Ajax are already kicking off the new season. Following a very disappointing season, the Amsterdam side have been relegated to playing the Conference League qualifying round. Under the guidance of new manager Michel, the Netherlands’ record champions will first play an away match against Serbian side Vojvodina. Will we see some of the key players in action straight away? Here’s our Vojvodina v Ajax prediction.

Current Form & Team News
Vojvodina
Whilst Ajax are on the eve of their first match of the new season, Vojvodina have already been in action for a while. After three friendly matches in June, the Serbian side played a match against Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the preliminary round of the Europa League. They lost the home match 1–2, followed by a 0–3 defeat in Budapest. The Serbian league has also now kicked off. Here, Miroslav Tanjga’s side beat OFK Belgrade 4–0. In short: things haven’t gone too well in Europe, but the first league win is sure to boost confidence.
Ajax
Ajax are in the midst of a busy transfer window. Almost half the squad are set to leave, whilst the club is now spending quite heavily. Following the signing of Caio Enrique from AS Monaco, Marcos Leonardo was also signed last week. All in all, this cost nearly €30,000,000. After a number of friendly matches, the Amsterdam side certainly seem to be making progress, particularly in terms of their positional play. Can they build on their strong pre-season form and beat Vojvodina? After all, European football is a must for Ajax.
Head-to-Head
Interestingly, the two sides also faced each other in Europe two years ago. Ajax won the away match in Serbia 3–1, whilst the Amsterdam side managed to win the return leg 1–0. Does this give enough cause for optimism for all Ajax supporters?
Predicted line-ups
Vojvodina (4-3-3):
Rosic, Barros, Szucs, Tanjga, Butean, Petrovic, Vidosavljevic, Randjelovic, Kokanovic, Kolarevic, Mulahusejnovic
Ajax (4-3-3):
Paes, Henrique, Blind, Bouwman, Rosa, Regeer, Mokio, Klaassen, Godts, Dolberg, Berghuis
Vojvodina - Ajax betting tips
Betting tip 1: Under 1.5 goals for Ajax
Of course, we hope Ajax will get a good result in Novi Sad. But the Amsterdam side are still struggling to find the net. In the four friendly matches they’ve played, they haven’t managed to score two goals even once. We therefore think Ajax will score no more than once. Betting on ‘Under 1.5 goals for Ajax’ will earn you odds of 2.25.
Betting tip 2: Both teams to score – YES
We think that both Vojvodina and Ajax will score in the first leg. Vojvodina gained some much-needed confidence last weekend by scoring four goals. At the same time, the match against Ferencvaros made it clear that their defence isn’t quite up to scratch yet. We therefore believe that both Vojvodina and Ajax will score. ‘Both teams to score – YES’ offers odds of 1.68.
Vojvodina v Ajax Prediction
Final score: Vojvodina 1–1 Ajax
We think Ajax are still finding their feet in Serbia. They didn’t give much away in pre-season, but at the same time they didn’t score many goals either. Partly for that reason, we’re expecting a 1–1–1 draw in Ajax’s opening match.
