England vs. Spain Preview
The third-place team against the number one team from the 2026 World Cup. That’s bound to make for a great match. Will Wembley be ablaze with excitement on Saturday thanks to an English victory? Here’s a brief look at both teams.
Current Form & Team News
England
There was so much pressure on the English soccer team last summer. The ever-critical and wildly enthusiastic fans had once again expected England to win the World Cup. After a very difficult group stage and early matches in the knockout round, the pressure on Thomas Tuchel mounted significantly. Then the German coach led England to the semifinals, thanks in part to a stunning 3-2 victory over host nation Mexico. Against Spain, most eyes will once again be on Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane. Will they lead their team to victory?
Spain
Is there any team better organized than Spain? It doesn’t seem so. With a large number of FC Barcelona players in its ranks, Luis de la Fuente’s team is incredibly well-coordinated. Interestingly, Rodri, the national team’s captain, now plays for the Spanish powerhouse as well. Up front, they still have world-class players like Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams. Unlike at the 2026 World Cup, will they be able to show their class during the Nations League? We’ll find out soon enough!
Head-to-Head
Of the last nine matches between England and Spain, the Southern Europeans have come out on top six times. England won twice and there was one draw. This shows that Spain generally performs better. However, England did manage to beat Spain in their most recent matchup in the Nations League.
Expected Lineups
England (4-3-3):
Pickford, O’Reilly, Guehi, Konsa, Alexander-Arnold, Anderson, Rogers, Bellingham, Gordon, Kane, Saka
Spain (4-3-3):
Simon, Cucurella, Cubarsí, Huijssen, Porro, Rodri, Ruiz, Pedri, Williams, Oyarzabal, Yamal
England vs. Spain Betting Tips
Betting Tip 1: Over 2.5 goals
We expect plenty of goals in this match. That’s mainly because at least three goals were scored in each of their last four head-to-head matches. As far as we’re concerned, there will be at least three goals scored this Saturday as well. Over 2.5 goals in England vs. Spain pays odds of 1.85.
Betting Tip 2: Both Teams to Score - YES
We think both England and Spain will score in this match. After all, that’s what happened in the last four matches they played against each other. The same goes for England’s last five official matches. In short: there will be cheers for both England and Spain. Both teams to score—YES—gives you odds of 1.67.
England vs. Spain Prediction
Final Score: England - Spain 1-2
We're predicting a narrow victory for Spain. It seems as though La Furia Roja's hunger is insatiable. Partly because of that, we're predicting a 2-1 win for the visitors. What do you think?
